Why the Zero Meridian is not the Zero Meridian.

In this episode, we travel to the origin of time and space. Or less philosophically to Greenwich village. This little hill just Southeast of London bears the reference point for time (=Greenwich mean time) and space (Zero meridian). At the Greenwich Royal Observatory, a long brass line is embedded into the floor to signal tourists where the border between Eastern and Western hemisphere is located.

So far so good. However if you would look at a GPS it would tell you that the real “zero meridian” is located 102.5 meters further east. In this episode, we not only show you the Observatory but also go on the hunt to find the “real zero meridian”.
